Samuel Beckett Bridge

River Liffey – Dublin, Ireland

Working closely with Spanish architect firm Santiago Calatrava and main contractor Graham, DockGuard were instrumental in the development of the fendering that protects the magnificent Samuel Beckett Bridgespanning Dublins River Liffey.

The fenders are designed to resemble speakers echoing the vibe of the harp shaped bridge they protect. The specification was unique and incorporated the inclusion of channel marker beacons, safety ladders and a series of features aimed to minimise future maintenance and facilitate cost effective installation.

This is the fourth such bridge protection fender system DockGuard have successfully installed in Ireland after first designing, manufacturing and installing the linked-panel fender system on the Barrow Rail Bridgefollowed by a floating boom fender system protecting the Sean O’Casey Bridge and later a similar structure diverting traffic under the stylish Spencer Dock Bridge in Dublin.

Bespoke design, fabrication and installation of floating, piled and fixed deck structures are the essence of DockGuard’s drive to offer the market a fresh, economic take on traditional packaged systems. For further details about bespoke designs please contact our head office.
